Recently refurbished and newly reopened, The Shanaway Bar at Hotel Woodstock is a warm, welcoming space at the heart of the hotel. As a proudly Irish family-run hotel, the atmosphere here is relaxed, friendly and genuinely hospitable — the kind of place where everyone feels at home.

What truly makes Shanaway Bar special is the personal touch. You’ll often find co-owners Sean and Elaine mingling with guests, making sure everyone feels welcome and well looked after.

It’s this genuine Irish hospitality and family spirit that makes the Shanaway Bar stand out — a place where strangers become regulars and guests feel like friends.

Head Chef Andy Skilling and his team serve up an authentic Irish menu using the finest local produce — wholesome, comforting dishes that remind you of the food your mother might make at home.

The Shanaway Bar menu celebrates comforting classics and well-known favourites, with something to suit every appetite. Lunchtime features a selection of light bites and satisfying dishes, including traditional Fish & Chips, a fresh Caesar Salad, and our juicy Ribeye Beef Burger, alongside lighter options such as homemade soups, sandwiches, and simple plates perfect for a relaxed midday meal.

In the evening, the menu expands to include hearty favourites that guests return for time and time again. Highlights include Hotel Woodstock’s signature Chicken Fajita Tower, the chef’s much-loved Thai Green Curry, and a true Irish classic — Bangers and Mash, rich with flavour and served just the way it should be.

All of this can be enjoyed in the sleek, newly refurbished Shanaway Bar, where guests can settle into cosy corners for a relaxed meal or grab a ringside seat near the large screen TVs to catch the latest match while enjoying great food and a perfectly poured drink.

Be warned, Sean may just take a seat beside you to catch the end of the match while Elaine is not watching!

The interior features deep green walls that create a rich, moody ambiance, complemented by elegant Jardin Emerald stone countertops with a striking green marble effect. Dark oak veneer joinery adds warmth and character throughout the bar, while a solid brass frame with a bronzed mirror forms an eye-catching focal point. Antique brass lamps and contemporary black pendant lights provide soft, atmospheric lighting. Dark leather banquettes and comfortable chair seating, finished with patterned fabric backs, add texture and style while ensuring guests can relax in comfort.

Adding a strong sense of place, the walls are adorned with beautiful landscape photography by Giles Norman, capturing some of Ireland’s most iconic locations including the limestone landscape of the The Burren, the dramatic Cliffs of Moher and the rugged Blasket Islands.
